I've searched and was unable to find a definitive answer. Will an Interstate MTX 78 AGM battery fit in a 2004? It's length of 10 15/16" concerns me it will be too big. .
I would put this problem on the seller, making correct fit a necessity to complete the sale. I think a 78 will fit, but don't remember, since my car has side post terminals that require a different group number. The problem as I understand it, is that the first year specs had a slightly smaller battery specified , that was later changed to a larger size, but most of the published guidelines only list the smaller size from the first year. I keep thinking a 78 /34 will fit, the type with both types of posts.
I was once turned down to buy the exact replacement size for the battery in my car because the clerk insisted his list said it wouldn't fit. First and only time I went to a battery store instead of a place selling auto parts, but I thought the exide batteries they offered looked cool. To be fair to the young counter guy, a returned battery is not a good career move with the boss.
I have that battery in my 2003 and it fits perfectly. It's smaller at the bottom than the dimensions on the Interstate web site, it fits in the battery tray and uses the stock hold down. Gary interstate mtx-78 battery in c5 corvette - Bing images
