Having been away from the forum for several months due to selling my C5 and some other major changes, I'm preparing to return to the fold. I retired in January and relocated back to north central OH. No small feat. We have most of our stuff in storage units as our house is being built. I was going to wait until the house was finished to replace the C5 but started looking again. I drove a couple of C6 GS last year as well as a couple of base C6s. I liked them but just hate to spend $40,000 as we are paying cash for the house and anyone who has done this knows that coming in at budget is pretty rare, especially as prices continue to escalate. Truth is, I can't escape the fact that the smooth lines of the C5 are classic so that's where I decided to go. As I said, I was going to wait but I ran across a MY Z06 fairly local with an attractive price. I saw it on Cargurus and it was listed by a broker (I assume) called TRED. All I will say is that I would beware of these guys. So having committed, I have pretty much narrowed it down to 2 cars that are within 150 miles of me. Can't really decide. I didn't want to pay a $5-10000 premium for extremely low miles and there are quite a few of them out there as prices have gone up. My thought is to pick one of these up this week. Any comment or thoughts are appreciated.
After 3 different attempts to buy a Z06, I came away empty. The blue one had a cracked dash and were not willing to make any adjustment for it. Actually one dealer who had one listed for over 200 days told me that this is a bad time to buy a car. Since I was in a buying mood, I "settled" for a 2009 base 6 speed manual. I really wanted an LS3 to begin with. Having recently retired, I checked my Fidelity account, along with building a house, it seemed circumspect to lower my expectations from a C6 Z06 or GS.
I think you did fine! Nice car. I really do value a lot of opinions on here. BUT-The only opinion that matters on a purchase is YOUR OWN!! If you find a must have car, and it's just a bit pricey, or priced at market value, with a few issues needing attention, if YOU like it, and buy it, that's all that matters......
