So this is an interesting one. I'm looking for a 3D model of the T56 With Rear end from a C5 corvette. The reason being is that I am currently in the middle of a project and want to mock up the mounting before I get to the point where I'm working with the actual parts. I have a 3D printer and am using that to manufacture specific components for fit and function before I start working with the heavier parts. Any help would be appreciated.
Project:
Transplant C5 Z06 Drivetrain into 1984 Porsche 944.
It's blasphemy i know as I've spent a ton of time working on a C5 Corvette that has made it's rounds on this forum, facebook and my home state. And fear not the donor car is wrecked (Not by me) and is no longer a functional member of the road.
Good luck. I think that's going to be a very hard CAD file to find. My only suggestion would be to reach out to RPM transmission. I suspect they might have something like this that they use to develop their own products. I'm not sure if it would be something they would be willing to share though. Sounds like an interesting project. I'm sure you'll make some poor Porsche enthusiasts' heads explode.
Excellent... The best thing that can happen to a 944!... Good luck with your project and have fun... My 944 would have loved having a Ford in there....but I went with the whole C5 car instead of all that monkey business....and I still have the "money" in my wallet. 😎 You're not gonna find a Pro_E file or ANY file of a Porsche... Anything less is futile.
You'd looking for someone that has either 3D scanned these parts or spent the time to measure and create models from scratch.
If you know it will "fit" then just mock them up and then 3D print specific brackets/tabs etc. You will spend some decent coin printing 1:1 T56 trans and TT assembly. To aid in mockup, gut the TT and T56 to make them light as possible.
Come to think of it, it would be easier for you to find someone with a 3D scanner able to scan them and create a model for you.
