I will likely do a 285/35/18 + 265/40/17 combo when I replace mine with Michelin PS4S. It is unfortunate that the ps4s doesnt come in a 295/35 rear but I don't think the 10mm will affect much, and I think I'd rather have the newer tire than the Super Sport (which can be had in a 295/35 275/30 combo).
I had a lesson in tires when buying mine. I thought when buying the 295 it would be taller than the one I took off. That was a 275/40/18. If you go taller, and you go wider, the tire height stays about the same. So the 295/35/18 is just about the same height.
I wasn't going to do tires this year but figured since they were in stock better get them while I could. During WW2 you could not buy tires. Gas was rationed. Think that can't happen again? The next depression will make the 30s look like a picnic.
I know a lot of people ignore this and it really just comes down to the tire brand and model as far as real world sizing but I will say be careful with 275s on the front. While it will work totally fine sometimes they will have a visual look of stupidness as the tire sidewall can appear taller in the front than in the back. Many don't care about this like I said. I think it looks terrible.
I think you're going to find your rear tire will be shorter than the one removed. I wish I would have gone to 305 or 315 but I didn't think the rim could do it. It already kind of wraps around the rim. These are Mickey Thompsons. I think they are middle of the road as far as price. Not tracking the car but I wanted as wide as I could get. I could have gone to 11 so to speak but didn't want to end up with tires that wouldn't fit the rims.

I have never noticed this. Now I bet I won't be able to NOT notice it! Lol!

Haha, I enjoy that I now have a second voice of reason on here about this. Once it has been seen it cannot be unseen!
Google will present several tire size calcs, at least one of which also offers a visual of the tire sideview compared front vs rear for ratio purposes. I think it is on a jeep site and it is very handy.
How did GM let the C5 roll off the assembly line with sky jacked suspension, a soft as twice baked beans base suspension, and these 70s hee haw fatter front sidewalls with low profile rears? Too much lead in the paint over there.
