Memory Seat

So I have my setting in my C5 setup so when I pull the key out, the steering wheel and seat move back, but only sometimes when I put the key in does the seat and steering wheel move closer. Is there something im missing here, why is it only sometimes the seat moves forward when I put the key in. The batteries in the key fob are good.

Hit the door unlock button on your fob before you insert key and it should work every time.

When I get into the car, the seat is all the way back. usually 1/2 the time when I insert the key into the ignition the seat then moves to the set position. Just curious that this doesn't always work.

I believe you may need to close the door and then insert the key.

The door is always closed, before I put the key in

Try running the seat all the way back and forward 4-5 times. The contacts in the seat motor that allow the memory to work can get gunked up and not make good contact.
