Just out of curiosity, how many guys are parking their C5s, or driving them less than last Summer, due to high gas prices? Maybe I should ask in a Poll format? Just curious, because it isn't cheap at $90+ to fill your tank. Corvettes have never been a cheap mode of transportation. They're built for enjoyment. You wanna play, you gotta pay! So, now they're more expensive than ever, due to crazy fuel prices. Please, no 'if you want economy, buy an econobox.' We have one. That is NOT the purpose of my inquiry. Just wondering how many people are looking at this situation, and have adjusted........
My DD with premium gets maybe 12 MPG in the city (2004 Murano) and my C5 04 Vert gets near 18 city. I driving more miles on the Vette to do local chores and with the top down. this year and loving it.
If we're talking C3s, my 75 is sitting more than usual since it gets gallons per mile. But even with premium my 02 is much more inexpensive to drive now than the 93 F250 7.3 diesel. Of course the Vette won't be seeing a grocery store parking lot begging for a soccer mom to ding my doors.
I've haven't been driving the Vette for the past 3 months due to back surgery but got in it last Sunday and since I can now get in and out of it I'll be driving it all the time again, gas prices aren't a factor in using the car to me. I bought it for the pleasure and don't intend to change. FJB
Gas prices are so far, just super annoying but not life changing. Our President has already said if you don't like the price just buy an electric car and that "they can't control the price" so I doubt we're going to get relief any time soon.
As soon as the talking heads said Trump lost I started working on selling my 14 mpg 6 liter Yukon because I already knew what was coming. Ended up with a 2016 base Jeep Renegade with a 6 speed for $9,700. I prepared myself and it's paying off nicely. What's super funny about it all is that people were telling me gas prices hadn't gone up yet, why trade down already...now used car and gas prices are through the roof. If I could see this coming a mile away I don't know how anybody else didn't. Some people just don't get it.
My 04 Z06 is my daily driver, 500 miles per week, and it averages 23-24mpg in mixed driving. Way better than my other vehicle, a 2500HD with the 8.1L big block. So, no reason to drive the vette less.
No change for me. You only live once. I just retired so I drive my vette and enjoy it regardless of the price of gas.
I've been retired for a while, now, and after years of a 50 mile, round trip commute to work, I find that I just don't drive as much as I used to. So, at least for me, while the cost of gas "rots my socks", it hasn't changed my driving habits......
The vett is a pleasure car and even with high gas prices of 5-6 dollars a gallon, I don't drive it enough miles to worry about it. Besides that it, doesn't get such bad gas mileage when driven sanely.
I am still tracking my car, but driving it less on the street. The cost of fuel to tow it to events is hurting more than the street driving, but I need to make it up somewhere.

Totally agree, Corvette brother!! Our elections do have consequences. I wonder where I'd "fill up" a $55,000+ electric car on a 1,200 mile trip?? Such statements are ridiculous.....
This is my daily driver. I paid $78 this morning, 12 gal fill up at $6.50/gal. I do this every other day as I commute about 600 miles a week plus whatever driving on weekends. I end up with about 10 fill ups a month @$80 = $800 ish spent only on gas. I could park the Corvette and buy a hybrid, which would end up being cheaper than $800 month in car payment and gas, BUT I would have the same lifeless face and unenjoyable drive as all the other commuters with hybrids. I'll enjoy my car while I have it and find other ways to cut costs.
With gas prices going through the roof, I can say one of the best ownership experiences with the C5 is it's fuel efficiency. Mine averages about 23 driving around southern MI and over 28 on the highway. Have a buddy with a Mopar 440 Magnum and he's somewhere around 6-8mpg.
