Default DS airbag clocking
What is the proper positioning of the drivers side airbag to the outer cover?
Here is a view from the back of both:


Here is a view from the front of both:

Should the airbag be rotated 90, 180, 270 degrees or is it clocked right in the photo?

I think you need to include the metal backing plate into the mix. The 4 threaded studs on the bag portion, plus the little protrusions, may only fit into the backing plate one way. And then the backing plate may only fit one way onto the airbag cover. For reference, I pulled this picture from an ebay listing for a C5 airbag:

Thanks, that was a good suggestion. All the parts are together with the bag label to the right as in the above picture or 3:00 o'clock.
