What i'm inquiring about is what is the best way to get sun an air into a Z06. I live in an area in which this type of car is mostly for summer, and i can't bring my self to buying a car which is going to be used mostly for summer and being enclosed. I want the performance of the Z06 thats why I don't just get a coupe although i'm considering if nobody thinks theres a way to do this for around 5,000 even a moonroof/sunroof would be fine. If anyone could give me recomendations it would be greatly appreciated. I've seen a couple of post in the forums for the vert conversion but 10,000 is a little a little high i'll buy coupe an ati procharger instead.
If your going to chop your z06 , you must do it right, or it will cheapen the car, as a z06 would look ridiculous with a shotty moon roof or sun roof cut into it, IMHO> carivaggio does a factory type job on the vert and targa top < so I am told.
If you could get the needed parts from a salvage yard from a donor C5 vert, I would think any good custom body shop should be able to do the job for quite a bit less. the salvage yard might even take some of the good items removed from the Z06; rear glass at least. With a bit of effort I would think it could be done for around 5k
The more I think about I agree my intent was never to put a sunroof or moonroof in. I agree that would be hidious and just cheap. What i was looking for is exactly what caravaggio does but i wanted to leave a broud description so i could get the most info possible. So after gathering information from the web site it says about 3 weeks which is good but its all the way in canada, anyone know of anything closer to new england.
John Caravaggio's targa conversion is the best I've seen. Everything fits right and it looks factory, which is what you want. Anyone that says this is an easy job doesn't understand what it takes to make fit and finish perfect.
My guys at Burke Corvettes in Orlando have done Z06 convertible conversions (mine) but no targa's... yet. :)
