New user here and glad to be here. I've been searching for a C5 for a while now and think I've finally found one. I would be a first time C5 owner so I'm trying to ensure I'm not getting hosed on price. It's a 2004 6MT with 48,000, clean title, in Lemans Blue. Seller is asking $19,500. Is that a fair price given the market? Would I be wrong in offering 18? Are both of these numbers unrealistic and is it worth less? Thank you for any help you can provide, I'm spending a lot of the day researching!
Assuming it's in good shape, 19,500 is a pretty solid price for the miles. I'd thoroughly check the car out and look for any issues as well as discuss the history of the car with the owner and pull a vin report and check KBB for a range in value, KBB has been doing pretty well adjusting to the changing values in the car market.. If everything looks solid, buying at that price is not getting hosed at all.
Welcome. I’m mostly familiar with C6s, but assuming this car is in good shape with no issues - price seems in line. I may suggest that in addition to KBB, you could go online to a site like CarGurus. It will let you search for year, transmission, coupe/conv., etc. This can provide you with an idea of the price people selling a car like the one you’re looking at are asking. Best of luck.
Welcome! That price seems pretty fair to me compared to what I see in my area. Get a pre-purchase inspection so you know what exactly it may need (fluids, tires, clutch, etc). My local corvette shop owner loves C5's with these types of miles compared to the super low mile ones.
Suggestion.... Hang around here for a while, you'll be more informed for making your Own decision... However, it's pretty much rocket science knowing which wheel colors to choose!...

I asked a similar question last week so you may want to check my thread (albeit you already have a specific car in mind). Just keep in mind...you are about to pay 20 grand for an almost 20 year old car. Miles aren't always indicative of condition. Cars are meant to be driven. With that mileage, roughly 2,700 miles a year. Probably driven in the summer...stored away for the fall winter and spring months. If you dig the car...the only right price...is the one you want to pay. If you feel its high...then it's high. Do all the usually due diligence (i.e. service history, pre-purchase inspection, carfax, etc). One thing I'm kind of critical on is...if advertised at the top of the price spectrum...it should show in its asking range. Asking at the top with zero service history...pass.
Manual, good mileage, nice color, clean title... so far, so good. Any mention of modifications, upgrades, repairs? Do you have a wishlist of items/features you do/don't want? LOTS of great info for prospective buyers in the stickies above.
To each his own but if the pre-purchase top-to-bottom inspection checks out and you like the way it feels driving it, that price is certainly fair IMO.
According to the seller, there is slight wear in the side of the driver's seat (no surprise) and the ABS module needs replaced (doesn't affect driving other than ABS being off). He's never drove it in rain or snow and I wouldn't either as it's just a fun summer car on nice days, but if I understand the C5 years, the gen 2 ABS module is much more readily available to replace than the gen 1 modules found in 1997-2000, correct?
He also said there hasn't been any "replaced" parts such as the harmonic balancer because it's never needed it. He has owned it since 2010.

Reason: Missing info

Sounds like this one is on your "short list". How far away from you? Have you found a Vette savy mechanic shop for pp inspection?
FWIW, I spent months researching and looking for mine. Don't forget to enjoy the chase!

Ironically, he's only about 15 minutes from me and is in a local corvette club that my parents were once a part of so I know who he is. I've been looking for months now, just haven't found what I've been looking for. This is probably the closest to what I've been looking for and if he'll budge on price a bit I wouldn't mind having it. Only struggle I'm having is that I only drive my "summer cars" on average maybe 1,000-1,500 miles a year because my work commute is close. Therefore, I'd almost prefer to find a Z06 with double the mileage and marginally more expensive (found a couple within a couple hours of me that sold for roughly 21), than pay 19,500 for a car that's price is propped up based on low mileage (among other things of course).

EBCM failure..No Bueno where I live as we have annual safety inspections and ABS or SRS lights on = automatic rejection. If your state doesn't have safety inspections then no sweat (despite having ABS and traction control). In my research the 97-2000 can be repaired but the 2001 - end runs can. But I guess you wouldn't really know until you sent if off or provided the numbers to the rebuilder. I can live without traction control...but not ABS. Just my 2 cents.
