You need a tire with the 3.73, which I don’t have yet. 0-60 feels a lot better now. 3rd gear pulls much better. I went to the track once with the gear and converter swap. Top of second gear was bouncing off the rev limiter. Best time was 12.7 at 110. I had to go back to Speed Ink to readjust the shift points, hopefully I get a little better, I’m still on a street tire, have to leave traction control on otherwise the tire just lights up. I’m on a 305 30 19. Diameter is 26.1.
1st gear tops out at about 35mph. 2nd gear 73-74mph. 3rd gear unknown, 120-125 I assume. With 2nd gear topping out at 75, it’s an awesome traffic light set up. I don’t highway much. I had the 3.15 gears too. With the 3.73, you don’t get the 1st gear whine to 45 mph, or the 2nd gear whine to 85mph, and then 3rd gear falls on its face. I’ll see more of a benefit with a tire on the new setup. Hopefully I can drop my time to 12.5 or better.
Cruising at 60 mph is 2000rpm
70 mph is 2300
80 is 2700
85 is about 2900
95 is 3200
3.73 and yank3200 converter is a real tight combo. You almost don’t even know the converter is there unless your on it from a dig. It’s pretty accurate. Flashing the converter goes right to 3200. I’d be happy to answer any more questions. Shoot me a PM.
I'm also considering new rear gears and other fun stuff for my 2004 A4 with 3.15 performance axle. Did you also add a CAM or other parts in addition to the gears and high stall converter?
No heads or cam. But a top end kit could be in the future. Something like AFR heads, LG G5x1 cam which is 228/232. 5.85 lift. Fast intake and TB. Plus supporting mods.
