So about a year ago I sold my toy (86 stang).. she was a beauty... but i just never drove her.... probably put 2k miles on it in about 2 years. 525 to the wheels definitely fun to drive..... Anyhow I thought i may be done with a toy until i took a ride in my buddies C5.. i was in love... About a 1/2 yr later he inherited a car from a family member and had no room for it so I said " aahhh no worries just sell me the vette so you make room"... and there ya go I now have a vette
I drove her to work today and realized I have put 2k miles on the odometer in 3 months... I have NEVER driven a toy so much... I am actually enjoying it.. !! Shes not sitting in the garage collecting dust like my old toys... and I dont know if its me but the more ya drive these c5's the better they run?? I look at my weather map every morning and even before bed... If i see sun its game on!! So i stress it to others, if you have a c5 sitting in the garage as a toy well stop the nonsense and drive it... use it.. .run it.. enjoy it.. !! In the past I would be so concerned about its value down the road (dont put miles on it.. only drive it when it calls for 100% sun.. etc).. I dont want to jinx myself and say "I am going to own her forvever!".... life changes quickly and the family is itching for a boat but my grip will be held tight to my vette... !! No chance family.. you'll get your boat... but i aint sacrificing my most favorite toy of my life
I think you could say the same for C5 through C8. Maybe not so much for the earlier generations as far as ride comfort and capability goes. Enjoy your Vette.
I definitely understand where you're coming from. I sold my '65 Mustang because I just didn't drive it much. Funny thing was, when I was constantly working on it to fix it up, I drove it quite a bit... once it was "finished" I just kinda stopped driving it regularly.
Anyway, I've had my '03 coupe for a bit over a month now, and now my "daily driver" (an '18 Jeep Wrangler) is on a battery tender since it mostly sits in the garage now. Of course, when hunting season arrives the Jeep will find its way out of the garage (roads up at deer camp aren't conducive to cars with 4" of clearance :^). Till then, however, I'm still finding any excuse I can to hop in the car and drive!

Glad you are enjoying the car by driving it a lot. But I'm not going to criticize someone for not driving theirs a lot - they may get just as much enjoyment from their car as you do.
Enjoy every moment. Bought my 04 new. 73,000 miles of smiles. I wish it had a 173,000 on it, but I have kids, live near Chicago with crappy winters, and I only work 2 days a week, sometimes 3 being a paramedic, and my bro drives me to work in his beater.
my bro has a 2016 stang GT. Yes I said stang, sorry.

Correct! The C5 is eye candy in the garage, driveway, on the road or in a parking lot......
Glad to hear that you are enjoying it. The C5 really is a blast to drive. I drive mine anytime it's sunny and over 40 degrees outside. I hada '95 Mustang for 8 years, but I traded it in on the Corvette. It wasn't a hard decision as the the Vette was my dream car. I'm never going to sell it.
This is the reason I bought another car when I started getting the urge to tinker. I had a hard time digging into a car that I loved driving as it was, with just bolt ons.
I had a 2010 C6, sold it 5 years ago when the kids went to university. It was time for Dad to get another Vette and a 2003 C5 in great condition caught my eye. 60,000 miles, drive it every chance I get. I’ve had it a month and already have 1200 miles on it lol.
I think I actually like it more than my C6, very fun to drive! Enjoy and welcome to the Vette family

The cool part about owning and driving the plastic pacaderm is that it is affordable, attainable, yet "exclusive" to those seeing it bop on down the street... This time we got em fooled!
Glad to hear this! I purchased a C5 not long ago second hand, and it's in mint condition. Since purchase, I've driven about 2,000 miles and loved every moment of it. Took a little while to get comfortable with the seats, and feet positioning (size 14 shoe). Just happy to say, I'll be dailying this for roughly 6 months, than storage for the winter months!
The only thing I've noticed I have to do at some point is replace the weather stripping because of rain, but that is easier said than done! Also might I say, this is my first "toy" aside from my pickup

Yep, my brother had a '67 SS Chevelle 427. Rode like a truck, stopped......well, it didn't really stop. Heat from the motor was unbearable and oh, it overheated if going less than 45mph. So much for driving a classic muscle car.
Fast forward to four years ago and I got a chance to drive a 2000 Corvette and was in love so I bought it. Smooth, incredibly quiet ride. No rattles, no squeaks and handles and stops incredibly. And the best part is it's been perfectly reliable.
Drove it to the Blue Ridge Parkway a couple of years ago with the wife and had a great time. And 28mpg on the highway too.

Hard to beat a C5......[/QUOTE]
wow interesting.. before i got vette it was owned by my buddy for 4 yrs. he had no intentions to sell but unfortunately a family member who owned a 68 chevelle passed away and he inherited car in the will. He had no room in his garages which is why i was able to pry vette from him. So lil vice vera of commonality lol… if tht even makes sense
The C5 is a great car for the long haul. I’m not holding anything back on any aspect of use. These cars are meant to be personal treasures on the road. Drive it and enjoy it.
