I have a 99 vert auto. Great car. Drives great. Gets 28 mpg highway. I love driving mine. I think your friend's car is probably a fine example of a great model. However, let's be real, the only feature it has over a standard model is the top. The color and low mileage will help. How old are the tires per the date code?
Given no problems other than AC compressor with serviceable tires, I am thinking $16ish. The issue with the AC compressor is you can't really test the rest of the system until you change the compressor. Does the condenser or evaporator leak also? Can't really tell until it is running and the head pressure gets up to a couple hundred pounds. Also, how does he know the compressor is bad? The risk to the buyer of the unknown will reduce the price.

The tires are brand new, compressor fails the dye test. Everything else on the system looks tight with no leaks from what I can see.

As a fellow Nassau owner, the color and mileage are definitely in the estates favor, but the AC problem must be fixed if they want the top $$$ this car could fetch.
I'm thinking $18-20K with working AC

Sounds like what my AC compressor was doing. The casing seals are known to leak on this compressor. I changed mine myself along with the water pump about a year and a half ago. Not too bad of a job. Since you are not keeping the car, probably more than you want to get into yourself.
Car looks great. Good luck.

Ding, ding, ding.
When I did the dye test the body of the compressor glowed like a Hendrix poster under a blacklight. I did offer to fix it for the owner, but she just wants the car gone.
