Default tesla model y spanked

while driving in mexico the other day, i encountered a blacked out tesla model y "dual motor" badge driving like a jack wagon on the highway. He then proceeds to get right on my rear and tailgate me despite there being someone directly in front of me. Driving 70 mph, i then proceed to drop into 3, wait until there was an opening, and SEE YA. Except it was more like see ya right behind me up until about 100 and then i started to pull away and left it in the dust. It must've been a "performance" model because that was impressive. I didnt realize they had any up top oomph, only the torque and awd to get up to speed and get the low 0-60 #'s...still smoked him but still

HA! Good for you... I hate tailgaters and actually slow down so they'll pass me and bother someone else. Nice move partner...

If you're close to stock, that makes sense for a "standard"/ long range model. C&D says 12.4@114mph. Still a significantly higher trap than the average C5 though. I'm not sure if I'm reading it right, are you saying you left it in the dust at 100+ or vice versa?

I played around with a Model Y Performance recently in the mountains. Impressive handling and it took a sec to start walking him on the straights. Unless you're supercharged, that wasn't a performance model lol.

some or most cars can only drive as fast as the tires are rated' my Silverado for instants would top out at a 95, that of course was changed with a HP tuner (I do have better tires on it)

Exactly what I'm saying...look at the numbers you posted. Are you stock, or close to? If so, a ~110 mph trap car "smoked" a ~114 mph trap car...he let off the power switch, the battery was low, etc is more likely. My personal experience with 500whp and 4.10s against a Y Performance is enough proof for me. What matters is you guys had some fun

The interstate speeds are not a good gauge of performance.
It's about how bad you want to spend the night in jail.
I was in my E550 on the interstate going about 85 to 90 when a Mazda 3 passed me going 100. I didn't bite.
I know I have 550HP in mine and he would not have stood a chance from a dig but at interstate speed it's about the driver willing to die than the power of the car. JMHO.
A stock C5 will in no way smoke a Tesla. Go to a track and start from a dig and he will smoke you every single time.

tesla has some sweet numbers... but i dont think basic 1/4 and trap speeds and even 0-60 ofcourse doesnt tell the full story of any car... think manufactures and even C&D etc should include 60-100mph times which complete its story imo. Teslas (now im not takin about the freak PLAID) are night and day from down low vs a high end roll. At least from what i read and video's i see. So its not surprising to me he started walkn it at 100

Was on a test drive on the freeway last week after replacing my steering wheel position sensor............Im making about 380 rwhp and tangled with a Plaid at about 13 1/2 mph............it was like I was tied to a tree. Those things are FAST.

Yes, most Teslas (not plaids) have a performance drop off at around 100 MPH. Under that, they'll own a stock C5. You were in a unique situation with this one. Also, I generally don't recommend racing at over 100 MPH on a public road. This is especially true with other cars around on said public road. Glad you had fun, and nobody got hurt (this time).

I saw more Tesla's on the way to the grocery store yesterday than I've seen other C8s on the road in the past 3 months.

They have exploded in volume in the past year or two here in Knoxville.
You had to strain to find one maybe back in 2019 or 2020.
Now, they're everywhere. No dealership still.
