Engine Removal

My mechanic said if he has to replace the lifters in my 2002 C5 the engine must come out. Does this sound correct? I’m hoping it’s just a bad rocker arm.

Time to find a new mechanic. Rocker arm nor lifter replacement require engine removal.

Sounds like this guy is trying to rip you off. Find a different mechanic as quick as you can.

Also what if he wants to steal his LS1 and slap a junkyard 4.8 or 5.3 back in with LS1 accessories?

Your "mechanic" sounds like he'd have difficulty assembling a tricycle from Walmart. As him if he removes heads to change the sparkplugs!!!!

If he says yes, tell him GREAT-You can change the lifters now, too!!

Another 👍 for your mechanic being an idiot or at least not knowing anything about engines. Plenty of YouTube videos out there you can watch to learn the process for yourself so you can call him out on his BS.
