Default Battery Tender jr........

Recently, I commented on a thread here somewhere that I've never had any issues with my Battery Tender jr. Well, it must've been listening!! Drove the car about 10 miles today, about 7 hours ago. I came home, and plugged it in. I went out this evening, and it was still glowing solid red. It's done that before, but it's usually warm to the touch. Not tonight. So, I hooked up my DVM, and nothing!! Checked the fuse, it was fine. I bought this about 2 years ago at Lowes, on sale for $25. I figured I'd get more than 2 years out of it. I even tried checking voltage up close to the brick, thinking maybe I had a broken wire, but it's dead. So, time for a new one. I see some have had good results from Cen Tek from Harbor Freight. Others like the C-Tek. Anyone care to make a recommendation? Thanks in advance......

UPDATE!!! IDK what's going on, but it's working again!!! Went out at around 8:00 last night, and it felt a bit warm to the touch, still steady red. Sure enough, checked battery with tender attached, and it was at 13.05v. At 7:30 this morning, I went out and the green light is on steady! Who knows...

Noco genius 1 at Autozone for $35.49 with 5 year warranty, or $29.99 at Amazon with 3 year warranty.

Wanted mine faster so just went to Autozone.

I also have 2 of the harbor freight cheapy ($5.00 with coupon each)trickle chargers that never shut off and didn’t leave hooked up on car for more than 24 hours at a time and never had hooked up on days/nights not at the house, they just have a red light so you never know the status.

They have a warranty up to 10 years. Wouldn’t hurt to try.

If you decide to try another Battery Tender, you should consider a more powerful model. I use the Junior for the battery on my portable generator (3rd year), but the Junior Plus on the Vette, and thinking about upgrading to the 4 amp model which is actually rated for charging a car battery, not just maintaining it.

I've had my battery tender for at least 15yrs. My car is ALWAYS plugged in when not driven. I've never had any issues. If it quit on me now I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

When I had my C5s I would use the Battery Tender Plus. Worked just fine for keeping the battery in top shape.

Going on 14 yrs with 4 battery tender jrs and all still working as they should. Typically when they arent connected well you'll see what you describe. Had one on my Rebel do that. It was the gator connection on the terminal cap.

Only time I had to replace one was when I ran it over with my BMW.

I'm beginning to understand, somewhat, what you're saying. Damn thing is working perfect again. I'm thinking about what you said about not working unless connected. Being a float charger, I'm guessing that if it doesn't sense a low voltage situation, say 12.3v, it's not going to put out any voltage. If it was constantly putting out power, it would become a trickle, rather than a float, charger. My .02......
