We have a new to us 2003 Anniversary edition convertible. When you raise the lid to stow or retrieve the top is the lid supposed to stay up? We currently have to hold it open. Not sure it it was designed this way or if there’s something wrong with it. Thanks for any insights!

yes, it's supposed to stay up -- it's very common that after awhile, the pistons that holds it up starts dying. I have the same issue-- was about to post a thread on asking what part the pistons are / tips on replacing
I have a 2001 vert and had the same problem with all the struts. I ordered all 3 sets in a kit from C&S Corvettes. Hood, trunk and the center like you are talking about. very easy to install but the center lid that holds the top is kind of tricky. I had to get in the trunk area to get it done. not easy for a big guy. What make it tricky is its ruins horizontal back over the rear wheel well.
Even moer important than the flip lid is the front lid. I noticed while working on mine that the struts just barely held up the lid and I had to use a pole I use in painting to support it. Lyle explains this is very dangerous. Good Idea to replace them all.

When I got my 2003 vert, I found that all of the struts were bad. I ordered them from an online parts store and got them in pretty quickly, except the tonneau cover, which took about 20 minutes to do. All in all, a great improvement for the C5!
