I cannot offer advice on tape, but just thought I'd reach out anyway.
Are you talking about Altec splash guards? I have them on my car, combined with lowering on the stock bolts. It's not a good combination.
Scraping the front splash guards on speed bumps is common. I've broken a few and caused some scraping of the body paint when the guard is pushed against it.
So if the car is lowered or that's in the plan, better to seek other options IMO. Good luck with yours.
Thank you - yes, considering the Altec product. Not lowered, nor plan to do so. Am careful; however, things happen. Right now the “worse” could be the tape letting go and losing the guard.
I am still procrastinating on installing some running boards on my coupe. I am thinking that since I don't know what is above the area that really is inappropriate for drilling into in the first place (their solution), that I would use the 3M tape that comes with the boards. Then, run a bead of silicone rubber someplace where it won't show. We all know how well silicone rubber sticks!
So with my Apsis carbon splash guards I was really disappointed that I had to drill holes to mount them. I did not use tape at first because the carbon needed time to conform to my fenders, I drilled the holes but "missed" on one and now my rear fender would need repaired if I take the guards off. i would recommend that you tape the guards in place and allow them time to "form" to the fender, that way you can use tape and maybe one screw.

If you properly prep the mounting surface on both the car and the splash guards and use some quality double sided tape (like 3m) plus let it cure properly, I would bet that those spash guards will be going nowhere.
