I’m returning to the ranks of Corvette owners and wanted to say how much I appreciate the information, experience and expertise contained here. I owned a 1964 Corvette for 35 years, but sold it a couple of years ago. I regretted it the moment the new buyer drove it away. I’ve been thinking about another, and in August (while my wife was traveling) I won an auction on Bring A Trailer and now I’m the proud owner of a one owner, 38k miles, 2000 C5, yellow with Torch red interior, magnesium wheels and about every other option available. I wrote a quick article for BAT, and here’s a link if you’re interested: https://bringatrailer.com/2022/09/28...perfect-match/
I’ve been glued to this forum since I returned home from picking up the car in Portland for my drive back to the SF Bay Area.
Thanks to all of you who share your experience and your knowledge. This is a really friendly and supportive forum, and a big help for those of us who love this car.
Congratulations on the beautiful car. Love the color combo (get ready for the Ronald McDonald's Corvette comments though! ).
Nothing like driving your new Corvette home. Great way to bond with the car right away. I recently bought my Z06 in eastern Iowa and drove it 2200 miles home to northern NV. Took mostly two lanes and it was a such a fantastic trip.
Thanks for the welcome! Yes, the previous owner was a real gentleman, and stepped up when I told him about the A/C. He had it charged before it went to the auction, and he had a good faith belief it was operational. Without my even asking, he offered to pay for half the cost of repair. Because auctions are as-is, he didn’t have to offer anything….but he did, and I was grateful for that. Everything works great now, and I’m loving driving my, new to me, Corvette.
Congratulations on finding a great looking car. I also had a 1964 Vette Vert with hardtop that to this day I regret selling. Your C5 is the exact color combo I was looking for as my #1 pick but could not locate one when the buy bug was biting for a C5. Enjoy the ride.
Welcome to the forum and congrats on the car! We're so happy that you are able to enjoy Corvette ownership again. Let us know if you have any questions, and we'll be happy to help. I enjoyed reading your story, and the car looks great.
Don't forget to SAVE THE WAVE!!

Nice article and welcome back to the fold ! I know your pain of letting go with your first Corvette, I did the same with my first C2('66 Ermine White, Vert) back in '79.
