Default C5 seat replacement

OK... so I'm finally throwing in the towel on my stock driver's seat and am looking for a new(er) replacement. I have rebuilt my seats 2 times myself, and before that they were done a couple times. The driver seat leans, seat back won't stay in the right spot, and is just toast (unless someone has some very specific parts I can throw at it.

I have stock sport seats. Do I need to get a sport seat replacement or can any C5 seat work?

I want one with the seat track too, because that is also toast. Any advice is welcome. Trying to find them on ebay, etc. and it seems like driver seats are tough to find. They seem to be available in pairs or passenger only for the most part.

Sounds like a good opportunity/excuse to step up to a pair of these

What is your budget ?
As jdmvette said, c7 seats are great and the prices are dropping pretty quickly. C8 seats are also an option (though I personally don't like the way they look in the c5).
I was able to get a set of c7 seats, have them stripped down to the frame, new foam and picked out exactly the leather, style and stitching I wanted -- in my case, nappa leather, black with red inserts, and red stitching. The difference in comfort is astounding, and I think they look a lot better-- to me the c7 seats are what should have been in the c5 to begin with, and look completely at home in the c5 interior. the c8 seats look great, but (again, just my opinion) just don't seem to match the 90s interior of the c5.

The largest benefit of c7/c8 seats is that you'll get fully adjustable seats (not just forward/back, the back supports have motorized tilt) motorized lumbar support and if you're enterprising enough, heat and vent (I didn't bother with this, but in retrospect, keeping the vent would have been a good idea). They will drop into the stock bolts without any modification, though you will likely want to swap in c6 seatbelts (the c5 seatbelts interfere with the seat travel, you'll lose about an inch.... swapping in c6 seatbelts takes about 15 minutes. You'll likely have to do this if you put in just about any non c5 seat, but it's a piece of cake)

The only real benefit to replacing with a c5 seat is that it will be cheap. You can likely even find one that's been completely reupholstered. If you like the feel of the c5, go with this, it'll be the cheapest option-- any year c5 any model, will fit. I highly recommend trying a c7 or c8 seat, once you try them you'll never go back.

And since we're sharing pics, here's mine (I've since removed the tensioner you see sticking out on the driver side, didn't even realize it was there when I put the seats in):

The problem is I'm fairly torn on the upgrade. Car is a 98 Pace car, so the yellow seats are part of the insanity of the car. So I'm kinda settling for a factory looking upgrade that just works. Right now I'm leaning to one side on the seat base, and to one side on the seat back. All the brackets are replaced, foam replaced and upgraded, etc. and the leather is only a couple years and a couple thousand miles old. The seat frame itself just seems worn out.

As stated, C7 or C8 seats should be fine.

I'd get the stock seat fixed up, then swap in an aftermarket seat. It takes all of 10 mins to swap seats. That way you preserve the stock seat (if you ever decide to sell the car) and you get a more functional seat.
