This thread provides an alternative to replacing your OEM rear view mirror with a Homelink enabled mirror. This alternative is: stealth so that your garage door opener is hidden from view; so inexpensive that it is almost free; low tech; quick to complete, and; 100% reversible.
I located my garage door opener (a three button module) at the front of my driver's seat frame. There is a flat section of seat frame on the outboard / driver's door side. The garage door opener is attached with a piece of velcro. It can be removed to service the battery, and the velcro holds it firmly in place so it doesn't dislodge if bumped by your foot.
I never saw a reason to lock my console lid so I put mine there. Took the circuit board out of the opener case and velcroed it to the underside and wired in the button where the lock used to be. Easy peasy.

I am old school. I just clip mine to the sun visor.
Don’t do it! With all of today’s world paranoia - someone can break in and easily steal the remote and your paperwork and get into your garage/house. Not worth the risk anymore these days 🤷🏻♂️
That's where mine was, until it fell in my lap every time I flipped the visor down.
The metal clip on my opener was way too wide to hold on the visor. But the metal clip pulled out easily from the opener, and now the opener fits perfectly in the ash tray.
Cup holder? I thought that was for the garage door opener! That said, I have seen articles on revamping the drivers visor to put in the homelink in it. Looks fairly easily doable and clean.

But after seeing the controller clipped to the seat frame, I might move mine there. Ony thing that might be a bit awkward, is selecting the correct button on the controller, as my garage has two doors tied to the controller.

Mine slid off every time I tortured my rear tires!!! I fixed it by removing the clip, then "tweaking" it with channelock pliers. Tweaking equates to squeezing the clip tighter, which increases the tension.....

Some good ideas here and better than most. I replaced both my operators this year with side mount motors to eliminate the track down the middle of the doors. They are the Liftmaster models with MyQ compatibility and since I only got two single remotes and I have 5 vehicles, I now use my IPhone to open and close my doors. They also alert me anytime my doors are activated anywhere I may be.
Many of the 'smart home" apps are not so smart when it comes to cyber-security and are often a soft target hack entry point to your home's wireless network. Some people care about security and some don't...but is worth researching further if you are one that cares.
I registered the MyQ on my guest wireless network so that it is firewalled from my regular network. Ditto goes for our "smart" oven and other "smart" goodies that work by Wi-Fi.
