I tried out my DI filter I installed just for washing my cars. Huge difference and made the job very easy. I washed my wife’s and my SUV today and just let it air dry with absolutely not a single spot and did my Corvette today also and did hand dry it but made it so much easier. My issue is it’s pretty windy between my neighbors house and mine, now it’s not an issue. Very happy with the results.
Is it just a cartridge/filter you change out on occasion or it tells you when?
It’s full of DI resin, when the resin is done you just dump it out and put in one square foot of DI resin. It comes with a TDS tester. I think when it’s above 50 PPM you have to change the resin. My pre filter was 125 PPM and now it’s reading zero at the hose. I have this setup just for car washing or cleaning the house windows. I knew a few people that had them but thought it wasn’t really needed until I just used it. Maybe it’s because I have a whole house system with a softener? I was getting water spots unless I did a perfect job and especially on my bigger trucks having to get a ladder. Now I need nothing and can just let it air dry.
It came highly recommended by a friend, and he was right.
I don't run ALL of my car wash water through it though. I have a car wash "station" built where I have a 75' PW hose reel attached to a small electric pressure washer for the wash portion, foam gun use, wheels, first rinse, etc.
Then I have a Y-valve, and cut the water supply over to the Media Filter, with a SEPARATE garden hose, JUST to do a final rinse. This system has worked great for me for years.

I was very surprised at the difference. I have a ZL1 1LE Camaro I washed this morning that is usually a pain with all the canards and stuff the car is not an easy wash and it came out better then it looked the day I picked it up from PPF. This one has a valve on the neck to switch back and forth. I’ve heard of people using them for a few years before needed resin. We will see but as much as I enjoy detailing my cars this just made it so much better.
Some of the high end detail folks state to use a completely separate hose for the final rinse; so as to not run filtered water and onto the car through the same hose you were just running unfiltered water.

I actually did set up two different hoses with a gated y, one just for the DI filter and one for general use but I did just use the single one.
