Default TIRE PRESSURE

Hey guys, what is the correct rear tire pressure for my 02 z06? When I had my chrome wheels put on, the tires were some what low,but when I put in the air pressure stated on the side of the tires,I get too much wheel spin

Ray, I don't know what the exact manufacturers recommendation is, but I run mine at 32# (cold) all around and it works good for me....

For the stock Goodyear F1 Supercars the recommended tire pressure is 30 psi both front and rear for street use. The info can be found on the drivers door jamb.

The pressures you see on the tires themselves are the maximum recommended pressures according to the tire manufacturer.

If you're using the car on the track or autocrossing then your pressures will be dependent (ideally) on tire temperatures as measured with a tire pyrometer as well as wear indications. You can use the little triangles on the tires shoulders as a guide or mark the sidewall/tread line with chalk. If the chalk is wearing off you need more air, if the chalk is untouched, less air.

For drag racing most air down the rears to the low 20's (more traction) and air up the fronts (less rolling resistance)

For daily driving I recomend 32 RR. and 30 frt.For autocross 28 all round and the typical compromise is 30x4.Dave S. Xtreme M.S 489-517-4969,we will not be undersold so call us last for your best price 90%+ of the time we even beat GP's ,Dave S.

30 psi per the owners manual as mentioned earlier. I hadn't checked mine since delivery in October; they'd dropped to 28 psi due to the colder temps. The F1 SCs seem to hold pressure pretty well. :chevy

Just a fast note on personal preferance. For curves and average under 100 mph and definately NO exceeding it 28x4 is a noticeable improvement.Hi-Way 100 and over 32 RR. 30 frt great stability,Dragging 18 RR. 35 fr.For all round 32 RR. and 30 frt.,The hi-way 32 30 will yield excellant driveability and great loe rolling resistance and gas mileage you can even go 33x4 all'round.Dave S. Xtreme M.S. For great deals on wheels/wheel tire combos.Good Luck Dave S. 480-517*4969

For optimum track performance with a stock Z-51 or Z06, the Bragg-Smith school sets 36 front and 34 rear (cold) every morning. When driven aggresively the tires will heat up significantly and the pressures will rise high enough to set off the DIC if you have Tire Pressure Monintoring. This is normal on the track and is to be expected. Pressures recommended in the owners manual are a compromise between ride and handling.

May I suggest you find the compromise best for you.

John

Just picked up my 2002 Red Z06 last Wednesday and figured I better check ou the tire pressure. I could not believe there was next to none (approx 10 psi) on all 4. I know you aren't supposed to ride like that for very long. I just could believe there was next to no pressure. I couldn't tell by the ride. :auto:
