Default haynes manual sadness

It's been a long time since I've bought a haynes manual for anything... always remember them being the best next to a factory shop manual. Spotted the latest iteration of the C5/C6 manual on Amazon so ordered it.

Holy. Sad. Newsprint? Really? Wow. I remember these being printed on paper, not newsprint.

You can find anything you need to fix either on here or YouTube.

No doubt, however it used to be fun to have a haynes manual.

Print is dead.

I go all the way back to Motor's and Chilton's manuals.

I have the factory service manuals for my Corvette. I rarely ever use them.

This and other forums are much more up to date, better proofread, better photographed, better written and easier to find than anything in print. I printout the articles/blogs/threads and put them in my FSM. It keeps them nice.

Even **** is better online.

The "new" Haynes manual made the Chilton manual look good 😄

Not a bad price either considering the cost of the FSM.

I've never found either the Haynes or the Chilton ( they're now the same company) to be anywhere near as good as the factory manuals BUT I like to have them around for quick reference. I'm surprised at some of the questions posted in this and other forums that could be answered by spending 2 min thumbing through the manual. But hey, I'm really ol' school and for $30 or so another info source is worth it.

Not sure I agree. I've corrected mis-information on here in the past by simply quoting the factory repair manuals. Never needed anything else. I'm just glad I bought them when I first bought my C5.

I got the full set of '98 fsm on craigslist for the price of two haynes books not long after I bought my car. They are valuable to the right kind of owner but also very limited demand. The information is also mostly online, so you are really just paying for the better quality of print and organization.

I had the Haynes and have the OEM three volume set. Sold the Haynes and don’t think I’ve ever used the three volume set.
