Hatch back clip...to keep hatch open while driving.
Years ago, I remember that there was a product to allow you to keep the rear hatch open about 2" on a C5 while driving if you have the targa roof off the car.
Essentially, having the hatch open 2" would allow air to pass through the car instead of creating a loud wind tunnel in the car at higher speeds.
Anybody have a link to that "clip" that holds the rear hatch open a few inches to let air pass through? Thanks!
I searched for these a little while back and could not find them any longer. They are no longer made for some reason or another if I recall. If you do come across them though I’d love to buy a set too as the wind buffering with the top off is insane
I had one of those as well. Been a long time ago, but it was ordered from Mid America. And it worked great! Not sure if it’s still available but you might check there. Haven’t had a catalog from them in years, but that’s where I originally found it.
I knew I had seen them in the catalogs, but it must have been further back than I realized. They were from an outfit called 'Ventmasters', and both Eckler's and Corvette Central had them in their print catalogs. Show as discontinued everywhere now. I will note, there are a couple of articles of people having made their own versions out of hardware store materials. Not quite as finished in appearance, but not sure satin Canyon Black Krylon wouldn't fix that.

And a very short YouTube clip of an installation:
Wow, this is a crazy coincidence. I just found a set I've had for years now while I'm getting my garage organized. I had totally forgot I had them. I'll go see if they work with my car tomorrow and if they won't fit, I'll see if anyone might want them.
I can't quite recall the reason now as it has been almost 8 years since we had to discontinue offering these for C5 and C6. But from what I can remember, there was one primary manufacturer for these that quit producing them and there has yet to be any real alternative show up yet. One of those products that I'm surprised no one else has began manufacturing a variant of to fill the space as demand is obviously still there. But yes, unfortunately at this time we have no option available for C5s - we still have an active number for this same item for C4s, but to be honest, I'm not sure we can even get that one anymore either.

I can't find a single thread about a homemade version of this. Do you happen to have some links?

I remember wanting to buy a set years ago to cut down on turbulence with the top off, but there was a lot of concern and postings about exhaust fumes entering the vehicle while at a stop when using them. I believe this may have led to their unfortunate demise. I would still have purchased them if I could have found them.
If the purpose was to allow air to exit while the roof is out, exhaust would not be a problem. You do not want to use such a device with the roof in and the windows shut. There is complex turbulence around the tail of almost any car with the likelihood that exhaust gases would get into the cabin.
