Just swapped out a 2000 460L3 trans with 180k on the clock needing a rebuild.
Is a used Trans worth anything to anyone needing to rebuild. If so, what's it worth? $400, $300??
South East Florida location.
Where are you located and what are its specific symptoms that prompted a replacement?
If you are curious, there isn't much special about a Corvette 4L60E over any other 4L60E other than the case. But that case is specific to Corvettes IIRC. Mine will need a rebuild at some point to address the 3/4 clutch issue these transmissions are known for. Depending on what is wrong with yours, it may be worth it to someone to have a separate transmission to build/rebuild to minimize downtime on their car.

Thanks for the reply,
The trans does not shift in 3. So I can only assume either 3/4 clutch or shift solenoids. And with 180k, I just swapped it out. I’m not willing to invest over 3k for this project car at this time.

IDK if it was true in later years, but the earlier 700R4/4L60/4L60E had a larger 4th/OD servo in Vettes than the Camaros. Don't know when/if it ever changed...

Yap 3/4 is the norm for these trans. Member on here was sick of paying a shop from 3/4 going out that he did it himself. Changed to sonnax clutches i believe and problem anymore. Member is Steward i believe. If your somewhat hands on u can prolby handle it. GL

Correct, there are a fewdifferences between a "normal" 4L60E and the Vette version but the differences are interchangeable, as in you can use Vette parts in Camaros, Silverado's etc. My little brother put a bunch of Vette parts in his half ton when he built it, actually mad a difference in the way it drove too. There are a few companies that sell DIY rebuild kits/upgrades and rebuilding them doesn't require any special tools either.
Drive any vehicle with a 4L60E for any length of time and they will all end up that way. Some don't even make it to 100k miles.
IMHO, if the 3/4 clutch issue was the reason this trans is no longer in the car, then I would say it definitely should have some value to someone as a spare/core/rebuild candidate even if for only a couple hundred $$.
If it was local to me I would personally try to make a deal on it because mine is just starting to slip shifting into 3rd at WOT. Rebuilding one on the bench in my spare time sounds a lot better than rushing to complete it while the car is dismantled and taking up room in my shop.
