Default Interior lites

Sorry for the probable repost here, But when I am driving my 98 C5, the interior lites in the foot wells are on. I have tried to manipulate the dash lite **** but it doesn't seem to effect the foot well lites. How do I turn them off? Or are they meant to be on all the time?
Thanks.

Welcome to the forum. Are you sure that they are not aftermarket footwell lights that were added by a previous owner? It is not normal for footwell lights to be on all the time.

If they're on even after clicking the rheostat counterclockwise "off" there's something not right

Are the doors and hatch/trunk all the way closed?

If a door/hatch was not fully secure, a message should appear on the DIC.

When I had my C5s I do not recall the footwell lights being on all the time.

Thanks guys for the responses. So now it appears that when I turn on my headlights the foot well lites come on. Should they be on when the headlights are on?
Or maybe a better question is : when are the footwell lites suppose to be on and when should they be off?

And another question : after I drive and shut the engine off, when I open the drivers door, the security light on the gage cluster and the chiming noise goes off. This happens every time I open the drivers door. How do I get that to stop, or is it not stoppable?

Thanks.
