Default Interior light question

Hope this isn't a dumb question, but... Is there any way to keep the interior lights off at all times? Every vehicle I have owned allows one to turn off the interior lights completely, even with the door being opened. I have fiddled with the **** on the dash which dims them fine however I cannot find anyway to turn them off completely.

My car is put away so I can't check, but there should be a plunger in the door frame on both sides and the hatch. If you unplugged them, I would imagine that would render the interior lights inoperative. Or you could pull the fuse. May or may not have side effects doing either though. You could also pull out all the offending lights I suppose.

Looking at my Owners manual, it appears Relay 42 in the Passengers side Fuse Block controls the interior lights.

Thanks, however I don't want to do these kind of things. I just want to turn a switch just like every other car I have owned. It seems however there is no way to turn them off in that manner. Yet another great idea by the General.

The Corvette isn't just like every other car.........................to my knowledge there is no "switch" to turn off the lights.

I hope this isn't a dumb answer. If you don't want them 'on' at all, couldn't you just remove the lamps?

It is not a dumb answer at all. It seems there really is not a way to turn them off. I would like the option, hence not wanting to pull fuses or bulbs. I imagine I am just used to being able to do it, before moving to Florida I plowed snow mostly during the night, it was nice not having the lights go every time I opened the door.

You also won't be plowing much snow in a C5

You can always just turn the brightness all the way down. I know it's not exactly what you want though.

Nope, no snow here. Thankfully! And while my old home has no power under an ice storm and it's scheduled to be 89 today here.... YES! It really is no biggy, I was just confounded that there is no way to do it.
