I have spent the last 45 minutes looking for the ACDelco ultra guard filter for my new to me c5. I came up with UPF48, but the sites say does not fit...... I really like OEM, because of something a car manufacturer engineer once told me..... What are you folks running for stock LS1 2003....
I haven't had to change the oil yet in my C5, but similar searching yielded the UPF46R to be the correct ultraguard. Its currently in stock on Rock Auto.
That same rabbit hole taught me that the Fram Ultra XG3506 is currently the top filter for the money in terms of efficiency and materials. Of course, YMMV.
This coming from someone who has never used Fram. I plan to start with my next oil change.
There's a youtube channel called Whip City Wrencher where he tears apart oil filters and compares them. Might be of interest to you. Heres a teardown of an ultraguard, but not the one the vette uses:

Ended up using NAPA Gold - which are Wix filters, even use the same numbering system. And I have a NAPA store closer than any of the other auto parts places. As for oil, always used Mobil 1 until lately - now I have a supply of Costco own brand full synthetic. Every bit as good as the "majors" but priced the Costco way with low margins - no flashy ad campaigns or sponsorships to pay for.
Getting ready for my first oil and filter change 2000 M6. Is mobile 1 the way to go and the book says 6 1/2 quarts is that correct and what weight do you all use. Still trying to figure what filter. Thanks
