Have you used a Noah cover? I have used other, cheaper covers that did not hold up. Inside and out. The Noah, I used sporadically out doors and it was very good. After 25 years of use every winter no deterioration whatsoever of the material.
The Noah reference is/was a fabric that more than one maker used. I looked for a vendor still using Noah a year or two ago, and did not find one. That said, I have a used one I’ll put on the for sale thread tomorrow - though it completely disproves many of the ‘best cover’ references.

Aaahh ok well I can see that now since this fabric will carry the strength of it, wherever it goes.
I purchased a top if the line cover for my F250. It will not pull down over the cab and it us too short to go under my rear bumper. Sealskin will not acknowledge their bad fit or do anything to help me out. Do not buy from Sealskin!
WeatherShield HP by Cover Craft is the is the latest technology. It is breathable, very water resistant and light.
I have a standard cover on the Vette and a Custom on my other car. These are the best out now.
The Noah is just a Kimberly Clark brand material they all used. It was the best but has been passed up by better materials. I had one and it was good just heavy bulky and not as water resistant.
I purchased a top of the line UTV cover for my F250. It will not pull down over the cab and it is too short to go under my rear bumper. Sealskin will not acknowledge their bad fit or do anything to help me out. Do not buy from Sealskin.!
For your ’05 SLK55, the most recommended car covers that consistently stand out are custom‑fit outdoor covers from reputable makers. Custom fits will protect paint better and stay secure in wind and weather. Good options people often pick include California Car Cover and high‑end custom covers from places like CarCovers.com Platinum Shield. These tend to offer strong weather protection and a snug fit for convertibles. Some owners report mixed fit or quality with brands like SealSkin, Cover King, or generic covers, so focusing on a tailored outdoor cover is usually your best bet.
I have been really pleased with the "Seal Skin" cover. It is heavy duty, fits snugly, soft lined, completely water proof, has straps, and a cable with lock to keep it from being stolen or blown off. Great warranty and I highly recommend it. Good luck
