Default Engine compartment Spruce up

Decided to do some re-decorating under the hood. I used Dupli-Color METALCAST Red Anodized to paint the fuel rail covers and the radiator shroud. It isn't perfect but I think it turned out pretty good. I had to use Dupli-Color METALCAST Base paint as sort of a primer so the color would come out like anodized metal. I'm including some before and after pics.

Cool! A simple and inexpensive update that adds nice visual interest (and as many ads would say “it adds 5-15 horsepower 🙃 ).

Looks like you did a very good job painting the engine covers.

I don't know how yours looks, but my hood insulator blanket (or whatever you call it!) looks tired. The rest of my engine bay looks great! I watched a youtube video about a guy who took the insulator off of the hood, and repaired it with some spray glue on the edges where it started to separate from the main "blanket" and then washed it, re-colored with a blank cloth spray paint and re-installed it. Really cleaned up the under hood when it is open. You can order new ones but the shipping charge is as much as the new insulator!

Your job looks nice! Did you make that battery cover or is that a OEM part? I have a sheet of kydex and just might need to make one of those!

Just brush and clean the insulator and hit it with black BBQ grill paint...

My hood insulator is kinda ratty too. It's on my list of things to fix. I hadn't heard of repairing it. I might have to look into that. The battery cover is a 3rd party part. I got it through Top Flight.

Nicely done! Thanks for sharing. That adds a nice pop to the engine bay.

I bet some wet sanding would make those look even better.

You can order a new one from a Chevy dealer and avoid the ridiculous shipping costs. I am about to order one and the price is about $225 plus tax with no extra shipping charges.

painted the flag on my 97 a couple weeks ago. mine was a tad below average in my opinion but turned out kinda good. it's like trying to pin stripe steel wool. took about seven coats and a much better hand than mine but i;m happy with it.
