Default Trunk Leak

Here I am getting the car put together nicely once more and I came across a leak in the trunk.

This is affecting the passenger side storage bin which I reached into and found was wet at the bottom. I did clear up the drain hole. I have not yet determined the specific location of the source. Suggestions?

The car is parked at a very slight incline of 5* so it might travel there, or it might pool and then gain access. The problem is not chronic, but I want to root it out and resolve it.

The weather stripping appears at first pass the be in great condition. I actually encountered the leak when applying Gummi Pfluge to the seals.

I'll check all the common sense things when I can, though that may not be until after the 2nd now as we're traveling, but I thought I'd put it out there in case others had some quick guidance to offer or had discovered odd sources being the cause.

I have a number of Word files that I have created over the years that discuss water leaks on the C5. If you would like a copy of the files, PM me an e-mail address and I’ll send them to you. Somewhere in the files might be some info that will help you find the source of the leak.

Gummi Pfluge.... I used to fool with old BMWs and I have not heard that term in a long time.

Have you checked the drain in the rear corner on both sides of the outside channel? Just like the front Udders, the rear drains could get clogged and water could back up into your trunk.

I would bet that its due to a clogged drain channel. I believe there are 2 of them (one on each side) around the trunk on the Z06 You should be able to locate them easily with the trunk open. .

Time to make the ever-long length of zip ties and ensure that channel is cleared out!
