Well, after seeing some other posts, I decided to swap out the steering wheel. When I bought the car 18 months ago, it had a leather cover on it. I didn't really care for the look, but feared it may be worse under it with the stock wheel.
Im not a person to spend $1000 on a steering wheel, but the Reversol wheel from ebay looked good, got decent reviews and was affordable. So, I bought.
So, I watch YT videos and commence the project. My car is one of the stubborn one. My local Northern Tool had the proper removal tool for this steering wheel. However, the first one bent straight. The second one broke. Northern Tool failure of Chinesium.
So, off to Harbor Freight for a quality tool. I bought the multi-pack of 2 leg wheel pullers. I ended up using my impact wrench. It popped with a very loud bang. The rest of the process was fine. Nothing like multiple trips to the store for a tool that will work. Old wheel Side by side. The new wheel is slightly heavier. Compare size, shape.
Good job fighting it to break loose. The new wheel looks much better. I tired numerous times on mine and when it turned into hours, I gave it to my body shop. They wound up driving and taping the holes to use a different puller.
Are the free "loan-a-tools" from Pep Boys or Autozone capable of pulling the steering wheel efficiently? I hate to buy tools I will literally only use once.
Just take it to a trusted shop. Mine charged me $95.00, and it was worth every penny. I stood there and watched 2 guys who are both stronger than me struggle with the thing for 45 minutes despite having the correct high quality tools for the job. I enjoy working on my car. However, after all the horror stories on here, I decided to let my mechanic do it for me. After seeing how incredibly hard it was, I don't regret my decision at all.
The new wheel is very nice. It is thicker front to back and not circle round. It feels much better. In the thumb grip area it gets smaller in diameter. It is really natural. Totally worth the price.
My local autozone and advanced auto did not have a rental. I wound up with a $28 tool that I will probably use again. I'm ok with that.
I laid them over each other and the whole wheels are the same diameter, except that the bottom of the new wheel is flat. The diameter of the grip itself is larger on the new one.

I needed to pull my steering wheel and in the process my puller broke. Instead of another purchase, I got a loaner puller from Autozone. Their puller did the job. But the deposit was so low, I decided to keep the tool (which they did not have a problem with). Besides the puller was new, I was the first user.
Are there any good company Websites to Order a Quality Wheel or just companies through Ebay?
Would like a Thicker Wheel.....simple just Quality Leather, Some Finger Grips and maybe Perforated on the Sides in BLACK. You would think you could get a Quality Wheel like that for around $5-600 dollars.....crazy paying >$1K for a Steering Wheel. Would want one that supports Air Bag of course.
