I have moved the fog lamps from my coupe to my Z06. I know this car has no harness for them so I must make my own relay for power. I think I have a plan for that.
But how does the factory button work? I swapped the panel over to the Z06 as well and want to retain it as the normal switch for the fogs as well as retain the lit function showing on/off status.
Here is the harness in the coupe if that helps at all.
Oh man. Good old Toque to the rescue. I hope he does end up back in the fold soon. There have been tons of cars on the market moving. Good selection is already thinned out.
I've got a lot of HID experience and have found that all C5s benefit from running their own 30a relay straight off the battery or b+ terminal along with morimoto ballasts if they want to function like they are intended and not slowly heat or have issues. I am definitely making point of the harness pic he's got there to see what I can learn.
I have no idea how to read the circuit chart on that link though.
If you have the correct connectors to put into the fuse block, you could use the harness you have. The purple wires will go into
C1 and E4 of Connector C3 in the Underhood Fuse Block. Max current to the light circuit is 10A.
You could, also, use a 30A Relay.
You will need a fuse tap on Fuse #6 FOG LP in the Underhood Fuse Block to operate the relay coil and a Battery +12V fused lead for the power
to the Lights.
I was giving thought to running a relay so I only have to do this once and can change bulbs at will.
I would want to find a place to mount and keep it and an inline fuse somewhere if running it off the battery. The question then is how to trigger it using the factory switch which on the Z06 harness (not pictured) I do not believe is wired in.

The switch sends a signal to the BCM. The BCM then turns the fog lights on. So you just have to connect the switch to the correct BCM pin and the relay to the BCM control as shown in the schematic (post #4).
On my 04 Z06, without Fog Lights, all the switch wiring was there. I just plugged in the new Fog Switch and the FOG LP Relay worked.
There were no purple wires leaving the Fuse Block, going to the lights.
The Fuse Tap will get you the signal to operate the 30A Relay. When you turn On then Fog Light switch, Fuse #6 will be energized.
I mounted the Inline Fuse and 30A Relay next to the Fuse Block and used the Battery +12V Stud on the Block and a ground near the
bottom of the battery. The only wiring leaving the Fuse Block area will be the 12V out to the lights. I ran a #12 wire to the Right Light
and a jumper over the the Left.

This is correct. On the ZO6 the wiring from the switch all the way to the under hood fuse box is the same on all cars. Only the fog lights themselves, harness from fuse box to fog lights and trunk button are different.
So do you have to run a relay to the lights or not? I was under the impression there was a relay in the fuse box so there was no need to run another relay to the lights.

If you're running LED fogs, you can run without a relay. If you're running HID, I would suggest a relay to help with the startup current draw.
I have your early LED fogs in there currently. I will install the relays though in case I switch off in the future. The only slot which I think *needs to keep LEDs is the high beams and only for the ability to flick them when needed but without waiting for a ballast or bulb to come to full heat.
