Default Replacing balancer maintenance parts

I'm planning on replacing my balancer myself. I already have a list of the parts I need but other parts I don't. I know I need apr balancer bolt (already have), Summit balancer, Meiling oil pump, C5R timing chain, and Katech manual tension (already have). Now, I know I need to replace my water pump, gaskets, and I don't know the rest. What other parts do I need? The water pump needs additional parts at least what I've read. Gaskets set I have no idea.

Water pump shouldn't need anything additional other than gaskets. Pro tip - the gaskets are a pain in the *** to align. Get some Indian Head gasket shellac and let it set up against the water pump side of the gasket so you don't have to fiddle with holding the gaskets themselves as you align the bolts.

I mean, if you're going so far as to do the timing chain and oil pump, might as well cam the thing, too.

I would love to, but I have no experience with cams, let alone doing the valve springs and all. I have the tools at my job.

Valve springs are an easy DIY thing. If you can swap a balancer, you can install a cam.

You mentioned 1 tensioner, I would do the AC compressor tensioner and belt, there is also an idler I would replace. I would also do the AC compressor itself if the car is high mileage. It is a true bitch to replace any other time.

While I agree, the AC compressor is the most annoying repair I have had to do to my C5 to date, I don't think I'd touch it if it was working fine.

The car only has 83,000 right now. I have replaced the upper idler, but not the AC stuff. The compressor is working afaik.

I'm not saying it won't last another 30K miles, it may or it may croak the day after you finish the project. Mine was a little noisy but was working, since it was apart I bit the bullet and refreshed the AC system, because I could see how hard it would be to do the compressor down the road. YMMV

If you’re pulling off the front cover, you’ll be changing the crankshaft seal. You will need a seal alignment tool. I have one included on my list, made by SacCity Corvette. They have videos on how to use it

Second, if you’re removing the oil pump, careful not to drop the bolt in the oil pan. Some guys stuff a wrag under the bolt, and some loosen the bolt a thread or so, then tie a string or wire around the bolt just below the head.
