Default Key fobs

I purchased a 99’ vert at Mecum this year, and have been replacing things it needed, like lights, convertible top,new seats. Now the simplest thing is driving me crazy. I purchased new key fobs because they didn’t come with the car. I’ve done the programming routine with no luck. The system doesn’t see them. The tpms is working when I drive, so I know the RFA works. I have two questions!

First, does the tpms show tire pressure when the car is “off “ but the key is in the “on” position . Mine doesn’t. Is this a RFA issue?

Second, could it be I purchased the wrong fobs? They came from GM

If I'm not mistaken, tire pressure is only displayed after car has been put in motion. Compare the part number on the back of the good FOB with the new ones. I am assuming the batteries are new.

The early cars take a specific remote that is less common and more expensive. Check the fccid # on the remote

I see one problem! The fobs don’t have numbers inside or out. Thank for the help 😊

The GM part number for the 1997-2000 model years is GM Part #: 19299230, C5 model years 2001-2005 have a updated RFA system with different TPMS sensors and different key fobs

Regarding the TPMS - Turning the key to "on" will not display tire pressure, The sensor basically go to sleep after the car is stationary for a period of time. They will begin to display pressure shortly after the car starts moving.

As others have stated, you need to make sure you have the earlier fobs (which are unfortunately more expensive). The older fobs have passive keyless entry. The newer ones do not. If the fobs you have don't have a passive keyless entry switch on them, you likely have the wrong ones.

You're correct about the 19299230 fob. BUT-That is a newer number. The old, original part# is 10432147, which also works. Both numbers use a CR2450 battery. I'm guessing the OP got either junkola Chinese knockoffs, or they're for the '01-up......
