I don't recall reading about this issue. Not really a problem, more of a curiousity
I have a 99 vert
When I start the car up in the garage the ext temp shows as the current temp in the garage. But when i exit the garage and drive off, the temp is very slow to update. Is this a thing on c5 ? or certain years? Example from yesterday. The outside temp here in RI was 79.
When i started car in garage it read 62. Drove off and it took somewhere between 5 to 10 minutes to update. I've always noticed this in the 4 years I've owned the car but decided to finally ask the question. So the AC won't kick on til the temp updates.
If you are concerned , I'd start with cleaning all the contacts for the outside temp sensor. A bit of dirt or corrosion (RI is by the ocean) will make the sensor read slower as the electric signals "fight" there way through the grime. Also, it is pretty usual to have the garage ambient temp in the morning different than outside, even hours after sunrise.
Also, outside temp sensors have a "timing delay" built in so that a signal has to be consistent (from what I remember 8 seconds?) before recording a change. Dirt will make the readings inconsistent so achieving the 8 seconds or so is harder

OK, sounds like a reasonable idea. Where is the ext temp sensor located?
