Default Tire replacement

So what brand of tires do you guys recommend for a 1999 Corvette ? Going with stock size 245/45 ZR 17 front and 275/40 ZR 18 rear.

I have a set of Continental Sports. I'm happy with them as I drive around town and no tracking.

I currently have Michelin pilot super sports. Unfortunately, those are no longer made. I will be getting a set of Continental ExtremeContact sport 02 tires soon. Both of the tires mentioned are max performance Summer tires. It does depend on your particular situation. These tires should not be used in temps under 40 degrees F. If you drive your Vette a lot in the Winter, an all season tire might be a better option for you. Michelin does make a good AS tire for the stock rims. If you tell us more about how you use the car, we can better tailor an answer to you. Good luck!
EDIT: Check out tirerack.com. They have a really good selection of tires for our cars. Most come with a warranty as well.

I bought a set F+R of General G-Max RS because I wanted a tire that ran quite as I drive interstate a lot and the C5 or any Corvette suffers from road noise to a extent. These General are very smoot and quiet ! Very happy with their performance and they are summer tire so I get the best traction I can from them.

I’ve run Generals on my daily drivers. Love the general altimax. Never run generals on the vette, but have used Bridgestone potenza sport tires, and have good luck with them. Quite and grip well

Just bought a set of Michelin Pilot Sport AS 4 in oem sizes. Lots of traction, very quiet. I live in North Central Texas. It gets cold here and I drive my C5 year round.

Presuming stockish power, anything non-runflat with a tread wear under 400 is going to be passing fair. You won't need 200 unless you are really upgrading the car.

I have tried many tires on my C5s over the years. Most I love. Any Bridgestone performance car tire has been excellent and for years was also an affordable alternative. The current market pricing for all tires has become insane.

The only tire model I cannot suggest are the Hankook Ventus V12 Evos. Marketed as a Max Performance Summer tire with treadwear of 320 AAA you would think they would grip and be good. These things feel like a 500+ wear. They feel like bricks. They are fine to cruise but even medium pedal effort spins them easily. For the money tires cost currently I would not waste my money on these tires. Case in point: my coupe went from these to nearly outdated Bridgestone RE-760 Sports and these six year old tire of a model no longer produced still feel softer and give LOADS more traction. I haven't broken them loose yet.
