Got new tires and TPMS, they were pre programed for my C5. Tried the diy programing with no luck so I went to the local Corvette specialty shop. They wanted to bill me for $147 before they started. I assumed it would be a 5 min. job of going around the vette with a magnet so I turned that down and went to a local tire store. He went around and found one sensor not working, changed that one and completed the setup. Total cost $79. Think there is a lesson in there somewhere.
Good job saving a few bucks. With that said, if one sensor is bad, the other 3 are likely to go bad soon. You should have gotten all 4 replaced. However, it's not like the car is undrivable without the TPMS, so I guess you can just drive it until the other sensors fail, and deal with it when that happens.
There are just too many different sensors. I almost put in a set that needed programmed externally before mounting. I swapped them out for the correct ones for the Vette just updated.
While you can drive the car with a bad one you are stuck at 55 or less because it thinks you are on the run flat tires.

Lesson for sure. The Corvette tax is alive and thriving. Beautiful car, and love the wheels. BTW, many of us have seen a 4L60E, or similar transmission pan. Many transmissions have a dimple in the steel pan. This is to help hold a round, donut type magnet. These magnets are VERY strong! They're installed by GM to grab any metallic shavings that may be floating around. They also work great for reprogramming the C5 TPMS sensors. I have never had a problem reprogramming my sensors using these. A good source for these are either an auto trans shop, or the boneyard. Hope this helps someone......
