Default Nittos MIA?????

My good God, are Nitto NT555R2s extinct?? I can't find any in stock anywhere in the 305-35-18 sizes. Not only that, at the "Big Two," TR and DTD they are not only backordered, they have no idea when they'll be getting any from Nitto!!!

A number of their tires are MIA.

I think much to do with shipping delays and dock worker strikes.

We just got some other models in at work and they were not expected till July. So sone are making it in.

the tire scarcity sucks.

i had to switch wheel sizes in order to get tires in the width i was looking for.

sometimes you do what you gotta do

I'm starting to think it's one of two things, maybe both. Either too many people, or management running skeleton crews to up profit margins. I've seen a lot of places like McDonald's, etc., touting starting jobs at $15-$16/hr. When I asked an employee about it, she said nobody in the store, except the owner, the top man, and maybe 1 manager, who made at least that much. I personally believe management hires as few workers as humanly possible, and then make whoever is on the clock work their *** off....

I've been working in retail for the past 25 years. The working model has always been about efficiency. I worked for only one company in the last 25 years where they spent a little too much on labor, the work was easier, but they're not in business anymore.

Tires have become scarce. Sports widths in modern diameters seem to be the worst afflicted. I would love to hear an explanation for this since the industry is spread globally and not derived from any one country or port of origin.

As well as why the supply chain apparently remains afflicted a half year past the last mention of covid anywhere in the world which has now been relegated to basically being the flu.

Also since Covid everything has been a mess. Shipping, supplies, labor shortages, raw material issues.

I have seen it all and I don’t see an end to it any time soon.

I have gotten to the point on thing I know I need I have been buying well before I need it if it is in stock.

I’m running Nitto’s now because we were out of every thing else in my size at the time I needed them. We either had the front or rear but not both.

No pun intended, I’d rather you tell me it launches great, and transmission doesn’t slip, then I’ll throw a set on my car too. Your kinda like my virtual Guinea pig. Lol.

Im going to a couple HPDE events this summer, hopefully my trans holds like @jim993 , although I’m running a full bolt on car with 3.73 gears and 3200 stall, plus transmission cooler. We shall see, I’ll let you guys know. I’m going to autobahn country club next Monday.

Happy belated Father’s Day too.

I had to go back to the M/T ET streets on the rear because I couldnt find anything suitable in that same size. Was looking for a matching front to rear setup so I could give the coilovers a workout finally.

You should try finding a set for a 15" conversion.... I ended up having to go with a 275

but it doesn't matter because I still don't Have the rear wheels Because they are out of stock.

Well, let's hope you're right! No offense taken. I'm concerned, too. I also have a 3,200, a Yank. I'm not gonna chance revving it against the brake/flashing the converter, but I'm really looking for something that holds without as much traction loss. In other words, I'm not going to try for a 1.5 second 60ft. time, but want something that will hook by 20-30mph, or even a bit sooner. As it is, at the track (unprepped) I can't use full throttle in 1st gear, and until around 80mph in 2nd gear. I figure that with 2.1 60ft times when I'm running high 11s@123+mph, while feathering the throttle out of the hole, letting almost totally off the throttle at around 60mph when it hits 2nd, and again at around 70-75mph, I'm thinking I should be around 11.20s@126+mph with better grip, at least. Best 60ft I've ever gotten is a 1.99. That was with 315/30/18 Michelin PS2s. I'm just hoping it doesn't scatter!!! I'm favoring the Nittos because I've heard they're better overall than the MTs. They might play nicer with the trans/diff, too!! But no doubt the MTs are stickier, and I'd love to see what times the car would do with them. But I'm genuinely concerned about the trans. It has close to 140,000 miles on it. Kurt Urban told me years ago that he felt the 30 series street tires were saving the trans. So it doesn't take a rocket scientist to forsee a problem here. Urban made those statements when the car had 60,000 miles on it. Maybe I'm making a big mistake thinking "Gee, it might've blown at 60,000 miles. So I think I'll wait until it's got 140,000 miles on it, put sticky tires on it, and see what's going to happen!!! Uh......
