Harmonic Balancer Replacement
I had my harmonic balancer replaced this week, and I wanted to share my experience since I see posts every week asking about replacement parts, cost, labor. I also had the tensioners, pulleys, belts, and crankshaft seal replaced since it’s easy to do once in there.
Harmonic Balancer: there are a lot of different options based on your needs. I went with the Summit Racing balancer (SUM-C2501).
Harmonic Balancer Bolt: I went with the ARP Balancer Bolt.
Belt Tensioners: there are two belt tensioners, Accessory Drive and AC. I went with ACDelco for both.
Pulleys: there are two pulleys, Accessory Drive and AC. I went with Dayco and ACDelco, respectively.
Belts: there are two belts, Accessory Drive and AC. I went with ACDelco for both.
Crankshaft Seal: National 100470 Crankshaft Seal
Power Steering Fluid: Lucas Oil P.S. Fluid
And that’s everything that I needed. The total for parts came out to ~$500. Of course I replaced a lot more than the balancer, but it can give you an idea of what to expect. Also, there are a lot of different options for every part. Depending on your performance needs or budget, the total price for parts can vary. As for labor, I had everything installed by a local performance shop for $500 (I’m located in the DFW area for reference)
I’ll leave my spreadsheet in the comments with all the parts, prices, and links to buy

Thank you for not running out and buying an unnecessary 500 dollar balancer. There is a time and a place for them but very few actually need a 500 dollar balancer.

Another great post to help other C5 owners with a precise break-down of material and cost incurred.
Thank You Lookingguy24
