Looking to buy a water pump for my '99. AC Delco # 252846 and GM #19195105. I found many to choose from with the counter clockwise rotation. Also found some by Gates. All of these are big names so I was wondering what your experience has been with any of these. I am leaning towards the AC Delco FYI but open to others as well. Thank you...Cheers!!!
Thanks guys for the input. I found a AC Delco with the thermostat and outlet for $169 so I'm gonna check on what the thermostat and outlet cost separately if I go to the gates. I had run gates in my truck and it still there after 10 years so I was just wondering. Cheers!!!
@jjc508520 According to several sites they list AC Delco 252846 and Gates 45002 as the correct wp for a 2000. These are the same numbers for my '99. Cheers!!!
Keep in mind that the 252-846 is a Delco Gold, therefore not OE.
The OE is a 251-744 aka 19256263.
Well not sure about that but still a Delco. Also the 252-846 rotates counter clock-wise wherein the 251-744 rotates clockwise. So being that mine turns CCW I have to go with the 252-846. And my OEM number is 19195105 which cross refs to 252-846. But thanks anywayz Cheers!!!
Also...GM Genuine Parts and ACDelco Original Equipment are the true GM parts across maintenance, repair, collision and powertrain. Building on the portfolio, in addition to OE parts, ACDelco Gold and Silver premium lines are the only aftermarket parts backed by General Motors for most makes and models of GM vehicles.
The GM design uses a giant steel plug that can rust and leak whereas the NAPA and Gates design use a bolted on aluminum part to seal behind the impeller, the third picture down for either on the Amazon site shows the difference. The NAPA pump has a limited lifetime warranty. What is the warranty for the GM or Gates pumps?

12 months for Gates, 24 for Delco Gold. The NAPA pump may have a lifetime warranty, but it is manufactured by GMB, which is Chinese.

Warranty claims are usually honored ONLY if you have the original receipt, which many don't keep. Some I've kept the last couple years are no longer legible, so not much point in keeping them anyway, if ya can't read 'em!! FWIW, I agree with staying OEM......

Absolutely. Besides knowing the guy that sells me parts fairly well, I have a virtual tome of receipts.
I would lean towards using an OEM part. You know it will fit and work just fine.
I have to admit that I have seen this in action, particularly the fit. Not so much with water pumps, but with suspension components and starters it can be a world of difference.
