C5 Wheels
I always thought the 50th A/E wheels looked like the stock OEM ones, but after studying some photos I took, the spokes are actually larger, which I like. Another feature that is special to the A/E.
Many mistake the new wheels for the Magnesium. They have a similar color but the 03 wheels are gold. I have heard some call them Champaign. The 04 went back to a silver.
There is no mistake on the Magnesium wheel due to cost. They still command a high price.
To be honest they are not as light as one would think.
I could be wrong, but those look like the magnesium wheels to me.
I never understood the price difference.
Check the glove compartment for codes.
My magnesiums have the small round center cap . . . they also have a yellow marking that says "magnesium" and are about half the weight. I think there were about 300 sets in `03.
While they were lightest they were not that much lighter.
Cost they are made of a more expensive material and a bit more work to make them.
I'm a bit confused why you listed the first line twice. Perhaps an error in voice? What I'm saying is you have listed the '97-'00 fronts at both 17.0lbs, and 17.5lbs. Was there 2 different weights for the front magnesium? Also, any wheel and tire assembly are considered unsprung weight. A pound here and a pound there make big differences in how the suspension is tuned, and in the handling of the car/motorcycle/whatever. A true racing car team will see a loss of 1/2lb-1lb of unsprung weight reduction as a big plus.....

just copied a story that listed weight. The point was they are not as light as people imagine.

The champagne colored wider spoke wheel depicted here is aluminum (or...aluminium pronounced offshore ) according to the build sheet and RPO codes (QD4) in the glove box. It's unique and quite satisfied with the look.
Are you the original owner? The Mag wheels could have been replaced with cheaper thin spokes. The rim you have pictured is the polished aluminum. They're also in pretty rough shape. You might want to consider repolishing them.
