Welcome to the forum! I think pictures would be very helpful here. It is VERY common for the air dam to scrape on things. It is actually designed to be able to do so. It can naturally wear away over time. However, it certainly shouldn't need to be replaced 3 times in a year. I suspect you have an issue with how it is installed. As I said, several detailed photos of your issue should help us to better diagnose the root of your problem.
Reinforcement plates are helpful. I put some on a couple years back. But I've never had any issues like the OP! I suspect Warlord nailed it, and if billschroeder5842 seconded it, I'll third it, if that's even a thing......
I made my own out of 1/8 sheet aluminum. The plastic things break in a few months.
I agree auminum would be stronger. But my plastic ones have been on for years, and have never cracked or broken. I've also hit a few speedbumps that were a bit too high, in my opinion. What are you running over????
