Today as I was working on muy car I opened the armrest I turned around to wipe the inside of the windsheild and I leaned on the catch for the arm rest is down. I saw the little arrow pointing forward so I tried to get it up it wouldn't come up so I tried my key. Now it is half way up and I can't get it up or down. Can you h3lp?
Proofreading has become a lost skill. I know because I, too, have been guilty of failing to proofread my own work.
Clearly, “I leaned on the catch for the arm rest is down” needs more than a little editing. I’d say we’re talking about the center console lid, but would have to take a closer look at the latching to ponder the issue.
Is this what youre talking about? These latches are common to get stuck but are cheap and easy to replace.
Yes that is the one. The tab that is sticking up in the picture is in the down position in my car. Some questions, first question where can I get one? Are they still available from GM (anyone have a part number)? How much of a pain is it to replace? My car is an 2001 and has just over 30K on it and I’ve not had to repair or replace anything and it cheeses me off as its my fault. Duh! Thanks much for your response. I knew that if I could find someone to help it would be here.
Yeah. A google search of ‘C5 Corvette console latch’ quickly shows them available from Zip, Top Flight, and others. Even better, it leads to a Froggy YouTube on replacing the latch, and a 2014 thread on this forum where E.T., in posts 5 and 10, indicates that if the pawl is pushed down simply lifting or pushing it may put it right.
