with unplugging the connection although make sure you water proof tape off ends.. Or, just remove the bulb from its connection and leave the bulb in light housing. I do not trust anything electric in the C5 going out by itself.
I tapped into the cable & put in a box-style rocker switch that flush mounted to the liner (put a bit of hot glue around it on the underside to keep it in place). I did this 15 years ago, so not sure what switch it was but it was from RadioShack, RIP.
Replace the bulb with an LED. It has less of a draw. Before you remove the old bulb unplug the light and let it cool off completely. It will burn your fingers. And as someone said after 15 minutes the light shuts off
My light was out and it was the pigtail up front that had been disconnected - I think by whoever I took it to last for service - thanks for the reminder!
They do (should) shut off on their own. Mine was actually disconnected when I got my car and I didn't realize it for a couple of weeks. Even if it stays on things like the hood light and parking lights (if you want to leave your headlights up) shouldn't drain your battery that fast to worry about. Bonus, at shows there's always someone around to give you a jump
I can confirm it goes off after not too long. I met up with a few people for a drive last weekend and someone pointed out the hood light was on. By the time I took this pic a few minutes later, it was off.
And YES the dealer's name has been removed- that was my very first mod (just bought it saturday)
