I've owned a couple different C6s and have driven every version of the C7, but always loved the C5 since it debuted when I was a kid and couldn't resist picking her up not too long ago. She's similar to a C6, but definitely has a little more of that older analog feel to her by comparison...even down to how the steering wheel feels and responds. I absolutely love it though, reminds me of the era of cars I grew up wrenching on. You know you're obsessed when the thing you look forward to the most on your day off is scrubbing out all the dirt from the engine bay!
Beautiful car! C5s are a blast to drive and still gorgeous after these years! So many well maintained cars out there for cheap money and low miles too!
Appreciate the welcome into the C5 community! It's unreal how much car you get for the money. I bought her across country and decided to drive back rather than getting it shipped which I'm glad I did...the drive was phenomenal. Not to mention there's something to be said about driving a 22 year old car through 60+ degree temperature swings, elevation changes, precipitation, etc., over the course of a couple days and not experiencing issues while averaging 30mpg. Definitely don't regret this purchase one bit, she's gorgeous and a blast to drive...gotta love those pop ups too!
Nice! Similar to you I had a 98 M6 vert a few years back and then a Velocity Yellow C6 M6 coupe with only 19k miles…… I went back to a very clean stock C5 Z06 and couldn’t be happier! Love the C5!
Sounds like you had a fun time from the get go, and you scored a really nice specimen. I bought a new vert in 2003 and later regretted selling it, so I bought a ‘04 a couple years ago and love it. No regrets!
That 30 mpg is great! I drove mine 700 miles to bring it home but I didn’t do quite that good, nor since. I love rowing the six speed too much I think! It’s good to know a C6 and C7 owner can still appreciate the C5.
