[Z06] Z06 muffler alignment
Any one go through an alignment issue with titanium mufflers.
I purchased a used set of 2002 Ti mufflers as perfect.
There is welding slagg on the inside passenger pipe and a piece of "tig" rod left uncut that looks to be a repair when compared to the other three pipes OEM welding.
The drivers side alignment is perfect as promised.
I had fabriaction done to rotate passenger side muffler at the flange so all four tips are level, but.....
.... the passenger side is pushed in about 1/4 to 1/2 inch (give or take).
Already tried the broom stick trick.
Anyone add extra gaskets at the flange to lenghten the exhaust system, so to say? How much pressure can the muffler hanging bracket..the part encasing the muffler, take? Will the muffler fold/ dent if I mess in this area? Is that bracket steel or Ti?
Is the slagg and rod OEM lack of quality control? Is there a large/ large varience at the factory for muffler alignment? I will also try shimming at the rubber hanger mount, but I do not think that will work.
Seller states the mufflers had perfect alignment on his/ her vehicle. Because of the slagg, I do not think it is shipping damage...it could be wrong..that's a reason I am looking for experience and other Ti owners.
The alignment issue can be described as looking like a passenger tip caught something while backing up and pushed the muffler assembly back.
Please advise...else anyone selling a perfect passenger side Ti muffler? :(
