I'm about to have the windows tinted on the Vert. I'm going with a Ceramic 30 on the sides and back. They are asking if I want to do a 70 on the windshield. I asked if that was legal and their answer was " well not really but it's not dark enough to be call attention to is and so it will pass inspection" all that said will it cause an issue with the HUD display on the windshield?
Is paying the money to tint the windshield worth the risk?
I wouldn't do it....not for HUD issues but for the simple fact of safety driving at night. C5 isn't very big, so the side/back will offer a big benefit.
It doesn't hurt the HUD at all. I have 70% on my windshield and it's practically un-noticeable. Looks great, helps a TON with cabin heat.
This is 70 on the windshield and 15% on all the other glass.
Not totally off topic, so here goes; what does 70 on windshield and 15 on the rest mean? Is it transparency? Which would mean the windshield is 30% darker, and the rest 85% darker, than OEM? Thanks, Stingroo.

Tint is measured in light transmission. So the windshield lets 70 percent of light in and the sides and rear let in 15.
