Anyone install this battery cuttoff switch?
Our C5 doesn't get driven in the winter much, and it will sometimes get shuffled out of the garage and into our 3 enclosed sided carport with a cover on it, and there is no easy power for a battery tender. I run the top post version of this on our 60's cars and have had no problems with them. Is there room for this battery disconnect switch in a stock C5?
I would say better to connect a trickle charger than disconnect the battery --the computer will have to relearn when restarted

I have a Battery Tender Jr. Love it. They're only $30, give or take a few $. OP-Disconnecting the battery long term probably does no damage, but as JMG2 said, the computer has to relearn some things again. Not like its not going to run. But it won't run quite as well as it did until it relearns some things. Another issue is your memory settings will be gone. Some guys store a lot of radio stations, up to 36, iirc. Better to leave the battery connected. Also, while the kind of disconnect you're showing isn't a problem, some of them with a green **** you twist to connect/disconnect can be problematic. In one case the threads bottomed out due to female threads not being tapped deep enough. It took 2 shops that couldn't figure it out until C&S Corvettes did........

Thanks for chiming in everyone. As always, some good help in the C5 forum. I won't install the battery cutoff switch, I'll just try to get it out in good weather and run a trickle charger more often.
I attached my car to an external solar panel to tickle charge my battery via a quick release connector. I didn’t want to run an extension cord across my front doorway to my car.

Clean C5! I use the CTEK tender and connected their quick release to the battery terminals. Works great for quick connect/disconnect.

When I bought my 2003 C5, it had one of those battery disconnect switches installed by the previous owner. I guess it worked well for him, but I took it off not long after the purchase. I always kept a Battery Tender Plus connected to the car so the battery was always fully charged.
If you can, find a way to either install an electrical outlet in the carport or run a heavy duty extension cord out to the car.
