Hi, I just purchased my Z06 new years eve, what a great way to start the new year, I love it. What is the best type of lift to use for a ZO6. I am in the Army most of the shops have the type of lifts you adjust two arms in or out on either side of the car to lift. Will these work, if so will I need any type of spacers or blocks to put in between the car and the lift.
You just need to use carefull placement with that type of lift. There are spacers available that make it easer to not damage the rockers when lifting but there not absoluty nessesary. Check the fourm venders there available in aluminum or poly. Ric
Can any of you DoItYourselfers' recommend a Low-Profile Floor Jack to fit under the Z, ie for repairing a tire, Mobil 1 oil and filter change etc? Thanks alot, as I always do the majority of maintainance solo..JB

I use a regular floor jack, if I am lifting from the side I drive onto 2by6 for clearance but I mostly lift from the back to change tires. Oil changes I bring the Mobil 1 and filter to the garage and let them do it for 10-15bucks so I don't have to deal with the wase oil and filter. Ric
Re: New user, question on lifting ZO6 (Power Shifter)
Harbor Freight has a low profile racing jack, aluminum, 3/1/2' minimum height for $199.00. You can get it from their web site or from a local store if there is one near you. Also get jacking pucks, $50-$60 bucks a set, from one on the forum vendors. They fit into the slots at the lifting points and protect your sills. They work well on regular lifts.
To use that kind of lift, you should use "jacking pucks" between the lift arm and the rocker panel, or you run the risk of scratching or even cracking the panel. You can use regular hockey pucks - with the set I made, I used wing screws - these fit into the slots in the frame rails under the car - 1/4 turn & they will hang there while you adjust the lift arms.
For the 4 point lifts, I think the jacking pucks are the best. Some four point lifts are fitted with 5-6in rubber coated steel lift discs, but I think they are far and few in between. Even when they are fitted with rubber coatings they still rest on the fiber body parts so to me the puck offer the positive support (most important) and the clearance off of the fiber body parts.
The shop manual shows 14 actual lift points : 4 wheels, 4 body lift points, 3 front lift points and three rear lift points.
